In my
2008 list of new year objectives I expressed an interest in continuing to contribute toward Serendipity plugins when I could. A great deal of effort has been spent updating Serendipity's karma voting plugin resulting in the release of
version 2.0 and I contributed four simple yellow/green and yellow/red star images, in three different sizes to that version. I have also installed the plugin here at Optional Necessity and will be using it from this point forward.
The Serendipity karma voting plugin is a "core" plugin, meaning it is distributed with every Serendipity release version. This also means we don't want to overload it with too many images that bloat the overall plugin size. So I chose not to include a lot of other images that I created for the plugin, but they are now available for download to really make the graphical version of the new karma voting plugin shine!
There are a total of 33 different images, each in 3 different sizes - large, medium and small - for a total of 99 individual images. The medium examples are shown below - be sure to hover over the images to see the full effect! Rather than create a single zipfile for all images, I chose to divide them into three separate zipfiles according to image type. Remember - these images will only work with version 2.0+ of the serendipity karma plugin, which will become bundled with serendipity v1.3 or can be downloaded immediately from
Judebert's entry discussing the new plugin update.
Miscellaneous Images.
These images are inspired by the Nuvola icon set. Feeling buggy? How about a coffee cup with ratings of weak to strong? Or a lightbulb rating indicating the quality of an idea. Better yet, how about sharing the love!!
LED Images
I designed these to look like an
led power, or volume meter. Pump up the volume!
Mozilla Star
These stars are inspired by a Mozilla icon and were created in a greater variety of color combinations..
I have tried to create a variety of color combinations for most of the images. If you want a color combination that I have not yet created, let me know and I will do my best to create it for you. And remember - since I just installed the karma voting plugin on this site, be sure to visit some of the other entries and vote accordingly!

Don, you've done more to advance Serendipity than any three other people put together. Your templates and graphics are exceptional, and that's what the majority of people see.
Thanks for another outstanding effort!

I love those little coffee mugs. It's a shame I don't have any use for the plugin

@ Judebert - I think I would need to exclude a few dozen people from that "any three put together", including everyone who has commented on this post to date - yourself included!!!!
@ YellowLED - I create an image that actually contains a"yellow LED" and you don't use it? What's up with that?

Thankfully, those of us who lack the technical side can rely on contributors like you to provide the code that makes something like these images work in the first place!!!

That's stopping the karma graphics from centering. You might try adding this to your stylesheet AFTER the rules above:
#content ol.serendipity_karmaVoting_links {
margin: 0 auto;
}
